Overview

The Financial Analyst primarily supports the mission of the Finance Department by updating and maintaining financial and statistical information. The Financial Analyst proficiently uses financial data systems to produce standard and custom reports to support financial decisions throughout the hospital.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs General Ledger account analysis, journal entries and reconciliations as assigned.
  2. Assist in the preparation of month end financial processing including journal entries, variance analysis, reporting and recommendations for financial improvement.
  3. Creates and maintains financial trends and based on analysis makes recommendations to leadership on how to improve financial performance and decision-making.
  4. Gathers Authority operating statistics and ensures their accuracy and records into financial systems.
  5. Performs special projects, feasibility studies and financial analysis associated with current and new programs.
  6. Performs governmental and industry-specific financial and informational surveys.
  7. Performs cash count audits.
  8. Prepares and reconciles balance sheet and journal entries.
  9. Provides as a back up to the payroll system and payroll processing and understands the payroll and payroll tax regulations.
  10. Must be able to calculate wages, salaries and other compensation based on hours, attendance and other relevant factors.
  11. Must be able to calculate and deduct taxes, including state, federal and local income taxes, as well as social security and Medicare taxes.
  12. Holds monthly operating reviews for department leaders to identify financial opportunities to provide to senior leadership.
  13. Assist in the preparation of the strategic planning and rolling forecast tool.
  14. Serves as backup for productivity reporting.
  15. Serves as backup for the operating budget and understands the inner workings of the operating budget.
  16. Prepares payroll taxes.
  17. Prepares Physician Forgivable loan schedule and budget.
  18. Completes W2 processing and responsible for compliance of the W2 processing.
  19. Will provide customer service to the organization answering payroll requests and being able to assist employees in understanding payroll deductions.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelors in Accounting, or equivalent degree. Two to four years of accounting and/or payroll experience preferred. 

Strong skills in operating software systems and understanding the inner workings of a software system.

Must have strong ability to analyze data, identify patters and draw conclusions.    

Must have excellent communication skills in order to work with multiple layers of the organization.

Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
