Overview

The Senior Applications Analyst serves as primary resource for project planning, management and support for software applications. Consults with subject matter experts (SMEs) and Informatics to build, maintain and monitor assigned applications. Manages multiple resources and projects to effectively implement standard systems and services. Participates in identifying new solutions and enhancing existing applications to improve processes and increase return on investment.

Responsibilities

 

  1. Collaborates with departmental SMEs and Informatics on design changes to achieve highest level of utilization and value of the new and existing applications. Translates design to build tasks and works with appropriate teams to complete the build to highest quality.
  2. Develops standard operating procedures related to the use, management, and support of assigned applications
  3. Serves as a primary resource or project leader for small or medium IT Application projects with focus on planning, management, and support of these projects
  4. Monitors system effectiveness and performance to determine if there are any potential problems, reports critical findings to peers and/or manager and resolves somewhat complex problems. Collaborates with vendors to identify issue resolutions, identify functionality improvements and continuously improve end user adoption and satisfaction.
  5. Serves as a high-level resource for all IT Application tasks and projects.
  6. Serves as a departmental and customer training resource and mentors new employees.
  7. Develops and implements cost savings and performance improvement processes.
  8. Participates in on-call and weekend coverage as needed.
  9. Key resource for building Application Systems to meet user work flows / processes.

Qualifications

  1. Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Health Science, or related discipline with 8 years of healthcare applications experience or Professional Licensed healthcare related experience required. Equivalent certifications/training may be substituted for degree. 
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Health Science, or related discipline and 6 years of healthcare applications experience or Professional Licensed healthcare related experience is preferred.
  3. Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Health Science, or related discipline and 4 years of healthcare applications experience or Professional Licensed healthcare related experience is preferred.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and sustain multiple simultaneous projects required.
  5. Experience with Meditech Expanse and/or a health care EMR system is highly preferred.
  6. Preferred Certifications/Licensures: Project Management Professional (PMP)
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make formal presentations required.
  8. Exhibits strong interpersonal skills and management abilities to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel.
  9. Possesses intermediate personal computer skills with experience in applications implementation and project planning with knowledge of Information Technology and healthcare systems and processes.
  10. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English.
