Overview

PERFORMANCE PLANNING

 

Responsible for managing the daily work activities of assigned Laundry personnel and ensures established production requirements, processing procedures and all assignments are followed.

 

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Cleans and services building areas as assigned (including medication storage areas) according to established procedures and schedule assignment.
  2. Maintains secured access to designated medication storage areas when assigned to work in those areas and alerts nursing/clinical supervisor immediately if medications are discovered in any unlocked, unsupervised area.
  3. Completes employee evaluations
  4. Monitors work load, making adjustments as needed to compensate for peak / slack time.
  5. Inspect completed work for acceptable quality and quantity.
  6. Monitor linen inventory and communicate needs to management.
  7. Counsel employees exhibiting unsatisfactory work performance and recommend appropriate disciplinary action for continued unsatisfactory work performance.
  8. Responsible for employees adhering to dress code.
  9. Maintain good working relationship with all departments in the hospital.
  10. Responsible for monitoring the condition of all laundry equipment to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper working condition
  11. Responsible for making decisions that will ensure a consistent high quality textile product for all customers.
  12. Responsible for ensuring all schedules are covered and for approving and scheduling employee time off.
  13. Monitor hours worked to ensure authorized FTE levels are not exceeded without proper authorization.

12  Interviews, selects, hires, and retains employees.

13  Ensures orientation and training employees.

14  Manages performance.

15  Executes progressive discipline up to and including termination.

16  Manages departmental productivity standards.

17  Performs compliance requirements as outlined in Employee Handbook.

18  approves payroll and is responsible for accurate payment of employees.

  1. Manages front line operations of area of responsibility related to meeting/exceeding departmental

       Goals, 5 keys of excellence, DVCH Mission and Vision.

 

DCH Standards:

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

High School diploma or GED is preferred.  Ability to follow/understand verbal communications and written procedures required and to verbally communicate with others.  2 - 3 years Laundry supervisory experience in a commercial or health care setting. preferred.  Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English.

 

   

WORKING CONDITIONS

 CONTEXT:

Frequent lifting and / or carrying of objects weighing up to 40 lbs. and moving carts of linen that could weigh up to 500 lbs. Medium work-exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects Requires walking, standing, pushing, and pulling.  Manual dexterity; ability to move the hand easily and skillfully.  Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.   During summer, inside plant temperature can exceed 90 degrees. Includes exposure to human body fluids, disease, infection, lab chemicals and hazard material.  Also requires wearing common protective or safety equipment. Job also requires some office work including use of computer and other office equipment.

Physical presence onsite is essential.  Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.  Able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
