Provides physician extender services to patients in the Occupational Health Department based on DCH Healthcare System policies and procedures in collaborations with the physicians.
Responsibilities
Provides diagnostic and assessment services which includes performing pre-employment, annual and DOT History & Physical Examinations for adult patients in the Occupational Health Department.
Works in collaboration with other health care providers and collaborating/contractual physicians.
Performs assessment, diagnosis, orders treatment, and documentation of minor injuries – including but not limited to treatment of sprains/strains, application of splints/immobilizers, suturing/stapling lacerations, applying tissue adhesives, wound care, removal of sutures and staples, and patient education.
Prescribing non-narcotic medications.
Orders diagnostic tests and treatments – Radiology, Laboratory, PT/OT, Neurodiagnostics.
Receives laboratory and radiology reports and communicates results to the patient.
Communicates with outside physicians and client companies concerning treatment plans.
Referral of patients for continued treatment to specialty physicians or ancillary services.
Performs basic and/or advanced nursing tasks, including but not limited to PFT, Drug and Alcohol Screening, Audiogram, Lab Test, EKG, Vision Screening, administration of IM injections, administration and interpretation of TB skin test.
Performs eye irrigation.
Performs incision and drainage of abscesses.
Removal of foreign bodies, ears, nose, eyes and extremities.
Teaches, supervises and counsels patients and significant others regarding educational needs as appropriate to diagnosis.
Serves as a resource for occupational health staff.
Maintains a safe, clean and JACHO compliant work environment.
Attends in-service programs, all mandatory required training/education and unit/department/service meetings.

Qualifications
MSN Required. Appropriate CRNP certification required. Two years outpatient or ambulatory care experience preferred.
BLS and ACLS required within 90 days of hire.
Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
