Overview

Responsible for activities related to CSP and OR inventory, documentation and maintenance, ordering, receiving, returning, storing and distribution of surgical supplies. Collaborates with staff and CSP and OR Management regarding supply/instrument/equipment procurement and repair. Assists with budget preparation and budget issues and keeps documentation related to area of responsibility. Assists as needed in the coordination and procurement of material, equipment, and services that are consistent with the DCH Health System practices and standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Monitors inventory and availability of routine and special order supplies
  2. Responsible for direct billing of implants.
  3. Expedites, follows up, and reconciles order and invoice discrepancies with vendors, Accounting, and department personnel.
  4. Assumes accountability for items received being delivered to the appropriate person.
  5. Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal departments and suppliers.
  6. Provides services in a cost-effective manner.
  7. Creates purchase orders for stock and consignment items.
  8. Must demonstrate current abilities in areas of assigned responsibility.
  9. Places orders for stock and non-stock supplies, equipment and repairs.
  10. Ensures Sterile Room personnel check deliveries for accuracy.
  11. Searches continually for areas of price reduction and/or cost containment through the use of vendor selection and process improvement.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Some college education and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.  Must have a good work and attendance record. Must have keyboard experience and basic computer skills.  Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider training required. Must be able to take call, work weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work flexible scheduled hours.  Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English.
