Overview

The Radiologic Technologist performs imaging procedures in their area of expertise.  ARRT I, II and III are determined by standardized criteria.

Responsibilities

  1. Provides imaging services to patients including young adult, adult and geriatric.
  2. Provides radiation safety to self, patient and co-workers.
  3. Fulfills education requirements as established by ARRT, JCAHO and the DCH Health System.
  4. Instructs and supervises student technologists as assigned.
  5. Proficiently functions in specified areas with little or no supervision.
  6. Issues dosimeters to appropriate employees and maintains collection of records concerning radiation.
  7. Responsible for providing standard of care to all patients.
  8. Responsible for meeting patients’ needs.
  9. Provides service in a cost-effective manner.
  10. Maintains asepsis and sterility in the Fluoroscopy Room.
  11. Ensures Fluoroscopy Room and equipment is clean and prepared to receive patients.
  12. Assists with setup of sterile procedures and maintains sterile fields.
  13. Assists during procedures as needed by the nursing staff and physicians.
  14. Opens supplies to be used during the procedure and ensures sterility of instruments, supplies and trays.
  15. Assisting with properly transferring with patients from stretcher to Fluoroscopy table and properly positioning them for procedure.
  16. Participates in “Time Out” and assist with the correct transfer of medications to the procedure field and assures medications are labeled per policy and procedure.
  17. Ensures that appropriate supplies are ordered for patient care and that supplies are stocked, IV fluids made as needed.
  18. Attends clinic meetings as scheduled by Clinical Coordinator..
  19. Assists with employee payroll at the discretion of the Clinical Coordinator/Director.
  20. Assist with stocking of linens and supply orders.
  21. Flexibility in scheduling may be necessary based on patient care needs.

  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

ARRT Registration. Working knowledge of radiographic equipment, office equipment, and related materials essential to good patient care, imaging examinations, processed film, or files. Must be BLS certified upon hire or within 90 days of start date. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English. 

 

WORK CONTEXT

Exposure to radiation. Exposure to human body fluids. Coordination skills require good motor coordination, finger and manual dexterity. Positive interactive skills with physicians, Clinical Manager, Quality RNs, co-workers, patients and patient’s family.

 

PHYSICAL FACTORS

Is able to stand, walk, kneel, sit, crouch, or stoop with good balance for extended periods of time.  Exposed to all patient elements.  Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

 

Must be able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range. 

Physical presence onsite is essential.
