Overview

The Neurodiagnostics Supervisor is responsible for the overall clinical and operational oversight of the Neurophysiology Lab (EEG, EMG/NCS, and related services). This working leader combines advanced clinical expertise with supervisory and strategic responsibilities, including implementing and maintaining best-practice standards, driving quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for clinical and operational growth, and ensuring exceptional patient outcomes. The supervisor serves as the primary clinical resource and operational leader, aligning departmental activities with DCH Mission, Vision, and Values.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervisory Duties

  1. Provides daily direction and oversight of Neurodiagnostics lab operations in collaboration with the Medical Director, Department Director, Chief Sleep Technologist, and Scheduler
  2. Supervises, mentors, evaluates, and manages performance of all Neurodiagnostics staff (technologists, trainees, and support personnel)
  3. Leads interviewing, selection, hiring, onboarding, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary processes
  4. Develops staffing plans, adjusts schedules, and ensures appropriate coverage while maintaining productivity and budgetary goals
  5. Develops, implements, maintains, and enforces departmental policies, procedures, and evidence-based best practices
  6. Identifies areas of clinical, operational, and professional growth; leads quality improvement initiatives and performance enhancement projects
  7. Implements and sustains best-practice standards in neurodiagnostic testing, patient safety, and regulatory compliance
  8. Coordinates training programs, competency assessments, and continuing education in partnership with the Medical Director
  9. Actively leads department huddles, staff meetings, quality assurance activities, and interdisciplinary initiatives

Clinical / Technical Duties (participates in daily staffing as needed)

  1. Independently performs standard and complex electroneurodiagnostic procedures (EEG, LTM, etc.) on patients of all ages according to physician orders and evidence-based protocols
  2. Serves as the clinical expert resource for difficult or unusual cases, troubleshooting, and mentoring staff during procedures
  3. Ensures patient comfort, safety, and accurate monitoring throughout testing; recognizes and responds to clinical emergencies
  4. Maintains expert-level proficiency in electrode application, equipment operation, and technical troubleshooting

 

Quality, Compliance & Administrative Duties

  1. Continuously monitors departmental quality metrics, identifies opportunities for improvement, and implements corrective action plans
  2. Leads or participates in root cause analyses, patient safety initiatives, and accreditation survey preparation (Joint Commission, etc.)
  3. Maintains appropriate inventory/par levels of supplies and oversees equipment maintenance and repair coordination
  4. Ensures compliance with infection prevention standards, manufacturer IFUs, and regulatory requirements
  5. Participates in on-call leadership rotation and responds to urgent operational or clinical issues
  6. Prepares reports, dashboards, and presentations on departmental performance, quality outcomes, and growth initiatives

Qualifications

 

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required
  2. Current registration as R.EEG T. by ABRET (must maintain active status)
  3. Two (2) years’ full-time experience as a Technologist performing inpatient or outpatient adult and pediatric EEGs
  4. Current BLS certification (AHA)
  5. Preferred: Completion of training from an accredited EEG Technology program, additional ABRET registries (R.EP T., CNIM, CLTM, R.NCS T.), nerve conduction studies, and/or leadership certification
  6. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English.

 Working Conditions

Must be able to cooperate and work as a team with staff and patients.

At times must be able to cope with challenging situations when caring for patients. 

Requires working with patients who have health issues. 

Exposure to disease, infection and body fluid may occur.

 

PHYSICAL FACTORS

Frequently able to stand, walk, kneel, sit, bend or crouch with good balance. 

Must be able to maneuver over uneven or rough surfaces. 

Must be able to ascend and descend stairs. 

Must be able to carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. for 50 feet. 

Assist in turning and positioning patients weighing up to and beyond 200 lbs. 

Must be able to reach overhead to retrieve and/or replace objects. 

Must be able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.

Physical presence onsite is essential.
