Overview

The position will work closely with the director to coordinate and drive process improvement projects in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services, delivery, quality, patient experience and the system’s financial bottom line.

Responsibilities

  1. Assists in the development of departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
  2. Assists in the creation of metrics to monitor performance, operational improvements, and financial benefit.
  3. Collects and analyzes data, identifies opportunities, develops solutions, implements improvements, and helps operational management ensure sustainability.
  4. Challenges leaders as necessary to develop action based “culture-of continuous improvement” and accountability to improve key metrics.
  5. Coaches leaders/staff and facilitates prioritized improvement initiatives to achieve desired outcomes using evidence-based guidelines while maintaining targeted timelines.
  6. Instructs leaders in use of data to support decision-making.
  7. Develops and communicates ongoing process improvement/lean management strategies and ensures alignment with DCH’s mission, vision, and with other hospital wide initiatives.
  8. Ensures that project management principles are applied to every project.
  9. Develops project plans for each initiative.
  10. Provides up-to-date status reports on all process improvement and redesign projects.
  11. Leads cross functional project teams through all phases of the process improvement cycle using Lean and Six Sigma DMAIC processes to solve identified chronic organizational problems.
  12. Maintains effective communication with DCH hospital executives, senior management, organizational committees, and physicians regarding departmental activities.
  13. Provides timely information regarding the progress of performance improvement initiatives including progress toward goal achievement, critical factors, and obstacles.
  14. Maintains inventory of completed and ongoing process improvement initiatives.
  15. Identifies best practices within DCH and researches healthcare and other industries for best practices in lean management.
  16. Serves as a resource for best practices.
  17. Leads and manages process redesign efforts associated with major project efforts to ensure that the design meets process and workflow needs.
  18. Assists in the development of organizational strategies for process management and Lean; helps to drive and monitor execution of strategy.

  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A Bachelors Degree is required in a healthcare, engineering, or related field.  A minimum of three to five years of healthcare-based experience in process improvement and project management is preferred. 

 

Required Certifications:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (within first 6 months)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP©) Certification (within 2 years of hire)
