Overview

Provides leadership, direction, and administration of all aspects of hospital, health and skilling nursing centers activities and other corporate entities to ensure compliance with established objectives and the realization of quality, economical health care services, and other related lines of business. Develops, implements, and evaluates the organization’s strategic plan. Ensures compliance with healthcare, financial, and staffing laws and regulations. Establishes and maintains excellent relationship with the Fayette Medical Center board, as well as Fayette community.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an ex-officio member of the Hospital Board without vote.
  • Provides Hospital Board with current plan of organization of personnel and regularly communicates strategies to meet local needs.
  • Manages employees through the department directors/supervisors.  Establishes performance goals, allocates resources and assesses policies for all departments.
  • Initiates organization wide policies and procedures to facilitate the kind and type of organization needed to accomplish the facility aims, objectives and programs with the context of the DCH Health System.
  • Develops and manages budget for the organization, allocates funds within the budget and ensures that the organization operates within the budget.
  • Participates in charting the course the organization is to take in response to the community’s developing needs and carries it out accordingly.
  • Recommends and updates long-range plans which support Fayette Medical Center and the DCH Health System philosophy and general objectives.
  • Informs and advises the Hospital Board regarding current trends, problems, and activities in health care to facilitate policy making and community engagement.
  • Coordinates with the Hospital Board, medical staff, and other hospital personnel to respond to the community’s needs for quality health care services; monitors the adequacy of the authority’s medical activities.
  • Consults with relevant personnel and departments prior to recommending/establishing new policies and the availability of resources to implement same.
  • Ensures the provision of affordable health care services by the acquisition, utilization, and organization of available resources and the development of improved techniques and practices.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring the authority’s operations and its programs and physical properties, and initiating changes where required.
  • Serves as liaison and channel of communication between the Hospital Board and any of its committees and medical staff and assists with organizational problems and                      responsibilities.
  • Represents the organization in its relationship with other health agencies, organizations, groups, government agencies and third party payers.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. 
  • Participates in hospital/medical staff committee meetings as required.  Attends and serves on professional/civic service organizations as authority representative. 
  • Performs all other duties and project as assigned.
  • Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees.
  • Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees
  • Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience required. MBA or equivalent preferred.  Professional experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • Ability to solve problems and resolve conflict in a complex environment. Superior interpersonal skills transferable to a variety of professional settings. 
  • Commitment to developing a culturally competent healthcare organization.
  • In depth understanding of federal healthcare regulations and guidelines required.
