Overview

Administers, facilitates and explains benefits program to DCH Health System employees. 

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for coordination of general orientation and presents benefits plans to DCH staff.
  2. Develops new employee benefits sign-up presentation materials, participates in new employee sign-up        rotation, and communicates benefits package and enrollment process to employees.
  3. Answers benefits questions and assists with completion of forms.
  4. Participates in benefits-related employee educational meetings.
  5. Participates in annual open enrollment process.
  6. Researches and resolves discrepancies in election/deduction process relative to employee benefits.
  7. Assists with pension related projects and routine pension questions.
  8. Handles COBRA initial notification process and billing and reconciliation of employee benefits premium        payments while on unpaid FMLA.
  9. Reconciles benefits vendor invoices, resolves discrepancies and calculates payables due.
  10. Maintains working knowledge of benefits legislation, tax laws, trends in competition and DCH benefits plans.
  11. Assists with development and implementation of cost savings and performance improvement processes.

  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. B.S. Degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of two years’ human resources experience or relevant experience required.
  3. Minimum two years’ human resources employee benefits experience preferred.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook applications.
  5. Capable of managing multiple projects/tasks.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Ability to track, organize and analyze financial data.
  8. Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  9. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Light work – exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly.
  • Physical presence onsite is essential.  Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.  Able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • This position will involve contact with others, public speaking, dealing with external and internal customers, occasionally dealing with unpleasant or angry people, having face-to-face discussions, analyzing data and information, having the ability to work independently or in a team environment, preparing written letters and memos, critical thinking and using good judgment in decision making.
