Overview

He/she performs diagnostic ultrasound exams as ordered under the supervision of a radiologist. He/she will train personnel as directed by Imaging Services Department Manager or Director.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs ultrasound studies: abdominal, retroperitoneal, obstetrics/gynecology, small parts, neonatal, vascular and endocavity.
  2. Correlates clinical history with the test to be performed.
  3. Maintains CEUs required by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  4. Provides clinical instruction of ultrasound students and other healthcare professionals.
  5. Provides imaging services through knowledge of PACS system to patient of all ages including maternal, neonate, and infants, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
  6. Performs duties necessary to maintain accreditation.
  7. Provides safe radiology services to self, patients and co-workers.
  8. Responds timely to all forms of communication.
  9. Provides assistance for patients and their families in the department and during transport as appropriate, including any observed needs of the patients.
  10. Must be efficient in the use of all transport equipment, office equipment and related material essential to good patient care and reports any problems when necessary.
  11. Takes responsibility for care, cleaning and maintenance of transport equipment used in the transport of patients.
  12. Takes responsibility for supplies used in the transport of patients; i.e. O2 cylinders, warm blankets, etc.

  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • BLS required.
  • Previous experience preferred.
  • Must have working knowledge of ultrasound equipment, NIV equipment & accessories, cameras, patient procedural and patient care items, telephone, computer and calculator.
  • Must have obtained certification as RDMS.
  • Must obtain certification as RVT (RVS) within twenty-four (24) months of hire date.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
