Overview

Maintains a reliable, secure and efficient telecommunication environment. Be able to deploy, configure, maintain and monitor all telecommunication equipment and circuits in order to ensure smooth operations. Complete tasks assigned for Technology team projects when called upon. 

Responsibilities

  1. Establishes telecommunication systems deployment and configuration by; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; performing phone system administration, including interface configuration and phone call routing protocols.
  2. Establishes a stable telecommunication environment by evaluating performance issues including availability, utilization, jitter, and latency; recommends the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; establishing connections on site and to external users.
  3. Performs technical tasks in projects as they relate to IT telecommunications management.
  4. Assists in developing telecommunication related policies and procedures.
  5. Maintains references and support documentation.
  6. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  7. Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  8. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  9. Develops and implements cost savings and performance improvement processes.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of High school diploma or GED required. Associates, technical, or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience and or industry standard certification may be considered in lieu of degree. Industry standard certification with emphasis on Telephone Systems and Voice Over IP.
  2. Specific experience with phone system administration in a 500 user or greater environment is a requirement.
  3. 5 years of hands on phone system administration and support experience required.
  4. 2 Years of Voice Over IP experience required.
  5. Knowledge of TDM Circuits, Voice Over IP, Faxing, SIP Trunks, Call Routing, digital and analog phone system wiring plans and Network Security applications.
  6. Experience managing VMWare virtual environments a plus.
  7. Experience with Avaya PBX a plus.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make formal presentations required. 
  9. Exhibits interpersonal skills and abilities to deal effectively with all levels of personnel.
  10. Possess strong skills in network troubleshooting with an emphasis on VOIP, phone system routing and WAN technology.
