Our Cardiac Post Procedure Unit (CPPU), is a 12-bed outpatient unit located in the center hallway of the first floor at our DCH Regional Campus. Our team specializes in the care of acute cardiac patients, more specifically post cardiac catheterization patients. However, we also provide care for inpatients with chronic heart conditions that require around the clock monitoring and cardiovascular therapy. Our unit is staffed with Registered Nurses and Patient Care Assistants who are thoroughly trained in cardiac care. CPPU is a family oriented area. This is reflected in our hours of operation. Our Cardiac Catheterization Lab is located on the first floor of Regional Medical Center near the north entrance. We are a procedural area specializing in adults with acute and chronic heart diseases. Our team is mostly made up of Registered Nurses and Radiologic Technologists who receive extensive training in order to support our cardiologists and provide excellent cardiac care to our patients. Our daily workflow consists of performing heart procedures such as cardiac catheterizations where balloons and stents are used to restore blood flow through our patients' coronary arteries. Our Regional Medical Center Emergency Department is a 54-bed state designated Level III Trauma Center as well as a Level II Stroke Center. Our General Surgical Unit is a 32-bed unit specializing in exceptional postoperative care for our general surgical patients. Nurses in this area have a 1:6 ratio and are trained in all aspects of postoperative care; including pain management, mobility, and bedside procedures. In this area especially, we value a comfortable and healing environment for each individual patient and their unqiue needs. Our main Operating Room contains thirteen (13) operating rooms specializing in General, GYN, Robotic, Orthopedic, Urology, Neuro, and Cardiovascular Surgery. Our patient population includes infants through geriatrics, providing inpatient and outpatient surgery, including critical care patients. Our staff members in this area provide excellent intra-operative care using a multi-disciplinary team approach. The Total Joint Unit provides care for patients undergoing elective hip and knee replacements and other orthopedic procedures such as shoulder and back surgeries. This unit works closely with the Navigator to teach classes that provide information to help patients be successful after joint replacement. Because of the collaboration between nursing and the Navigator, we have seen a reduction in post op complications. Patient experience scores consistently exceed system goals. The nurse /patient ratios varies from day to day depending on surgery schedule but does not exceed 1:6. This is a small 13 bed unit that works closely together to care for all its patients.

Nurses in this area have a 1:6 ratio and specialize in an interdisciplinary team approach to each patient's specific needs. This unit's staff are experts in trauma but also ortho and urology patients as this unit will provide care to this population as well.
