Our newly reopened Oncology Unit is a 16-bed unit dedicated to our patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses. Nurses in this area have a 1:5 ratio and specialize in the administration of chemotherapy. Our multidisciplinary team of oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, and support staff are not only skilled and knowledgeable, but are also deeply compassionate while working together to bring patients with cancer specialized nursing care. This unit diligently seeks to provide an optimal healing environment for each patient and their family in their unique journey.

The Communication Center RN is responsible for coordinating patient admissions and transfers from physician offices and other outside facilities to DCH RMC and NMC. This role is responsible for assuring that patients have appropriate orders and patient status upon admission. The Communication Center RN participates in planning and assignment of hospital beds in conjunction with the Patient Accommodation Staff and Administrative Supervisor.

This unit's staff are experts in trauma but also ortho and urology patients as this unit will provide care to this population as well. This unit values collaboration with family practice physicians, hospitalists, as well as a variety of surgical specialists while proudly providing individualized attention to all patients who are hospitalized for illness, surgery, or testing and observation.

The Rehab Care Manager works collaboratively with interdisciplinary and healthcare team members, both internal and external to the organization to facilitate patient care through effective utilization and monitoring of healthcare resources and assumes a leadership role to achieve safe discharge planning along with desired clinical and financial outcomes. The Rehab Care Manager coordinates care and services through the acute rehab stay and across the continuum.

Responsible for evaluating rehab referrals for appropriateness of admission based on CMS’ Inpatient Rehab Facility (IRF) Guidelines . Required to complete pre-admission assessment on all patients admitted to the DCH Rehabilitation Pavilion. Completes insurance pre-certification on all patients being admitted with commercial insurance. Insures proper utilization of resources by recommending proper level of post-acute care on all referred patients. Functions in rehab team leadership role by identifying patients needs to justify rehab admission. Coordinates flow of information between patient, families, rehab team, physicians, and payers.

The Reimbursement Manager ensures compliance with regulations related to governmental and commercial reimbursement programs and works to mitigate the risk of loss of income and seize opportunities to provide value throughout the reimbursement process. This includes completion of governmental cost reporting, payor audits and providing interim reimbursement estimates.

The Patient Accommodations Reservation Specialist is under the general direction of the Administrative Supervisor/Manager and is primarily responsible for coordinating the patient room assignment procedures and maintaining an up to date census and location of patients and vacant beds. They are also responsible for assignment of Patient Status and correction of patient status.
